What do you do at Blend Accountants?

I look after the running of our office, including our staff payroll and bookkeeping.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Blend Accountants?

That I can work and make a positive contribution to the business at the age of 68. I enjoy working, and being part of a team and extended family. It’s a lovely environment.

What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work?

Arts and crafts. I make cards, gifts and jewellery and used to run classes before I came out of retirement. I sing in a church choir and am part of the WI.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a demolition worker. I fancied emerging through the haze of a collapsed building. But it wasn’t a career a woman would be encouraged into when I was young.

If you could do one thing to change the world, what would it be?

I’d change inequality and eradicate basic poverty. People are starving in the world but we can forget about these basic human rights when we’re distracted by other political and world problems.

How do you help put a smile on a customer’s face?

Simply by being nice to people. I develop a rapport with people and spend equal time with all the customers trying to deliver good customer service.

What cartoon character would you be?

Harry Potter. I could perform magic and fix things. Then I’d be able to fix world problems and not need to worry.
